What LockIn Does
LockIn is a focus app that helps you reduce distracting phone use and start real study or work. It may let you choose apps, categories, or website domains to limit, set a daily allowance, schedule LockIn sessions, provide proof that you started work, review focus and screen-time trends, and earn completion cards or future rewards when a LockIn session is completed.
LockIn is a tool. It cannot guarantee grades, work output, productivity, mental health outcomes, perfect app blocking, exact usage measurement, or that your device or operating system will behave exactly as expected.
License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use LockIn for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or misuse LockIn except where allowed by law.
Accounts
Some features may require an account. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.
If you delete your account, LockIn will attempt to delete or anonymize LockIn-owned account data as described in the Privacy Policy. Some provider, store, legal, accounting, security, or fraud-prevention records may remain where permitted or required.
Permissions and Native Features
LockIn may ask for permissions such as camera, location, notifications, Android Usage Access, iOS Screen Time / Family Controls, or similar platform permissions.
You control whether to grant these permissions. If you decline or revoke them, some features may not work. Operating systems, app stores, and device manufacturers can change APIs and policies, which may affect LockIn's ability to block apps, read usage, send notifications, or verify proof.
For sensitive access, LockIn may show an in-app explanation or consent step before opening device settings, requesting a permission, starting a foreground service, or accessing sensitive data. This may include Android Usage Access, installed-app information, foreground monitoring, camera proof, notifications, or similar access. GPS/location proof is parked in the current release and should appear only if it is re-enabled later. If you do not consent or do not grant the relevant permission, LockIn may provide a limited fallback or the feature may be unavailable.
Keep access to your phone available for emergencies and important situations. Do not rely on LockIn where delayed phone access could create a safety, health, legal, financial, or other serious risk.
App Blocking and Usage Limits
LockIn's app-blocking and usage-tracking features depend on platform APIs, device settings, user permissions, and operating-system behavior. LockIn may not block every app, website, notification, shortcut, background process, or workaround.
LockIn should be used as a focus support tool, not as a guaranteed security, parental-control, medical, therapy, addiction-treatment, or compliance system.
On Android, active app-blocking may use Usage Access, installed-app information, foreground app state, and a foreground service during an active LockIn session. These features should be used only for the LockIn focus functionality you choose and as described in the Privacy Policy.
Proof Submissions
Some LockIn sessions may require proof, such as a photo of a book, notes, desk setup, laptop, outdoor reset, or a location-based proof if that feature is enabled.
Do not submit illegal content, confidential documents, other people's private information, payment cards, government IDs, health records, nudity, sexual content, or content you do not have the right to upload or process.
You give LockIn permission to process proof submissions and related metadata for the limited purpose of providing LockIn features, verifying proof, maintaining session history, supporting your account, and operating the service as described in the Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions, Trials, and Purchases
Some features may require a paid subscription, trial, or in-app purchase. Current prices, billing periods, and any free-trial terms are displayed inside the app or on your device's app store listing at the time of purchase, and may vary by region and over time. By starting a subscription, you agree to the price shown there.
Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat may be used to validate subscriptions and manage access to paid features. We do not process payments directly.
- Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price unless canceled before the end of the current billing period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's app store settings.
- Deleting the app or deleting your LockIn account may not cancel a subscription by itself.
- Paid access may end if payment fails, a subscription expires, a refund is issued, or entitlement validation fails.
Refunds
All payments and refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies.
User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use LockIn for unlawful, harmful, deceptive, abusive, fraudulent, or unauthorized purposes.
- Use LockIn to monitor, control, or restrict another person's device without consent.
- Copy, modify, or distribute the app or its content except where allowed by law.
- Interfere with, overload, attack, or disrupt the app or its infrastructure.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
- Upload malware, exploit code, or harmful content.
- Misrepresent your identity, account, subscription state, or proof submissions.
Intellectual Property
All rights to LockIn, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, workflows, and other materials, are owned by us or our licensors. You may not reproduce or reuse any part of LockIn without permission except where allowed by law.
You retain ownership of content you submit, such as proof photos, but you grant LockIn a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to process that content as needed to provide the app, verify proof, maintain your session history, support your account, and comply with law.
Third-Party Services
LockIn may depend on third-party services and platforms, such as Supabase, RevenueCat, Apple, Google, OpenAI for proof verification, Expo services, and operating-system APIs. Their terms and policies may apply to your use of those services.
Privacy
LockIn's Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. By using LockIn, you acknowledge that information will be processed as described in the Privacy Policy.
Availability, Disclaimer, and Liability
We do not guarantee that LockIn will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted. LockIn is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of LockIn, including lost productivity, missed deadlines, academic or work outcomes, device issues, lost data, or inability to access apps during a LockIn session.
Governing Law and Changes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of LockIn means you accept the updated Terms.
